In October, Social Emotional Learning Instructors Karen D’Agostino and Teresa Benner will be traveling to Nashville, Tennessee to attend the College Autism Network Summit. The College Autism Network summit is a place for people who support autistic college students, and for self-advocates themselves, to gather and share resources, ideas, and challenges. C.A.N. is a diverse network of professionals (scholars and practitioners) committed to making postsecondary institutions better at serving neurodiverse students.

Karen and Teresa will present a program entitled Finding a Balance Between Traditional Social Pragmatics Groups and Application of Social Emotional Learning Strategies Through Interactive Experiences. They will also be attending the conference and networking with leaders and scholars in the field of neurodiversity and autism.
Presenting at CAN is not new for the staff at Thames. Our Director Beverly Scully presented, Beyond High School: Transitioning to Adulthood, Moving on to College or Other Educational or Professional Experiences (Program Development and Evolution). Beverly Scully and our writing instructor Kirsten Holmstedt, presented Creating Multiple Success Pathways During College Transitions that Accommodate the Neurodiversity of Students in the fall of 2022.
