The Mystic Aquarium course is designed to be an educational program that is based on environmental science and biology. In collaboration with the Mystic Aquarium, students can learn about biology, the study of marine life, and how an aquarium works. Students also work in the field studying beach life, marshes, and other elements of marine biology as it pertains to sustained fishing, wildlife management, and aquaculture.

Thames students work with aquarium scientists along with Thames instructors in this immersive science opportunity. Students who have the skills to manage this research intensive program will have a better understanding of marine science, how Mystic Aquarium plays an integral part in our community, and how science and research connects to the world we live in.

Mitchell College has a Bachelors of Science in Marine and Environmental Studies including hands-on learning, wraparound support, community building and internship opportunities. There are also opportunities for service learning, research, and micro-credentials in this area of study.
